Chapter 10 – Kogenkyo
Kogenkyo learned much in the next few days. One couldn’t learn an entire language in five days, but he tired. Felu was a graceful language, while his native Kidanese was also beautiful, Felu made him roll his tongue in order to complete sentences. He now knew about one hundred and fifty nouns, seventy some verbs, thirty adverbs, and several prepositional phrases in the feline’s tongue.
Azleah had suggested that in order to understand a little bit about Felinus culture, the first stop they should visit would be a Felinus settlement in northern Hidan-Hakko. If they went there first, those Felinus would know about elf customs as well as their own, and wouldn’t take offense easily by Kogenkyo’s mannerisms because of that knowledge.
However, now that Kogenkyo was out of the elf part of their forest, he could meditate and actually feel the world around him. He used to like meditating; now he was not so sure.

Chapter 9 – Rin
The flash was blinding. Rin felt himself being thrown into space but another force kept his body in place as time warped around him. It all went so very fast, Rin didn’t know what to make of it. Then, it was over. The werefox and the Oomas named Joachim were now in a very large forest, appropriately sized for the large bear. The temperature was warm and comfortable and the trees dwarfed the seven foot tall Oomas next to the tiny vulpine.
Rin looked around. He felt very small. Joachim put his massive paw on Rin’s back. Rin looked up at the bear, and instead of seeing the firm, stony face that the Oomas showed around humans (which made him very intimidating) there was only kindness in his eyes. Rin felt better now around him. He knew that humans really hated and feared ones not of their kind, but maybe nonhumans had the same opinion, fear and hatred toward humans.
Joachim pushed him forward. “Let’s move. We have a lot of paper work

Chapter 8 – Kogenkyo
Hidan-Hakko, to the north of Sutekiuchi
“Kogenkyo… Kogenkyo… Kogenkyo…”
The absolutely worse thing in the world, Kogenkyo surmised, was having someone wake them up at their own schedule, not his own. When Azleah was hired to assist, guide, and protect him on this journey, he also self-appointed himself to other tasks, such as being Kogenkyo’s personal alarm clock. The last two days since they left Sutekiuchi, Azleah had been doing things, small, hardly noticeable things, that added up to be one great annoyance. Not only that, Azleah had a little attitude problem.
He was arrogant, plain and simple. But Kogenkyo had met elves who had worse personality problems, so he really didn’t know what else made him not like Azleah. He knew it was probably the feminism, and he knew men shouldn’t act that way. But Azleah had hinted that his exterior was male in their first conversation. Th

Chapter 5 – Rin
Rin was lying on his back in the back of Jason’s wagon while they were on their way to Aurora, the capital of Avalon. It was late in the afternoon, and Rin felt the bumps on the road through the wagon, and it tended to jar his tail, which annoyed him greatly. He sat up, and put his tail between his hands. Or claws. Or paws, whatever they were supposed to be called now. Rin inspected them carefully. He then came to the conclusion that, yes, they were claws.
Rin was still getting used to his new body, and for an incredibly strange reason, he was immensely satisfied with his appearance. His green eyes were sharper than they ever were as a human, and he picked up movements and colors he never would have spotted as a human. His other senses were also amplified; he could hear many different sounds (he noticed that humans breathed rather heavily), his sense of smell could detect many different odors (and he found out that most humans had rather bad bodil
